Heater Core Leak!
Ok so I had a Heater Core leak. Coolant all over my passanger carpet.So... I decided to bypass( reroute hoses under hood) the heater core untill i get a new one and get a chance to replace it but now my AC is not working. AC compressor turns on and air blows but not cold at all. My question is.... Does the heater core have to be working to have the AC working?

are you sure your heater core is leaking? does it smell like coolant? it could be that the evaporator water drain is plugged and filled with water to the point where water leaks and the air just isnt getting cooled because the water is covering most of the evaporator.

So there is no sensor that would not allow the AC to cool? The heater core is now bypassed so there is no water going thru the heater core at all. The thing is that the AC stopped working the moment I bypassed the heater core. Anyone else has any input?

I found the problem. The plug to the ac compressor came loose. It was just weird how it happened at the same time my heater core went out. Thats what threw off. Pluged it back in and it works great now. thanks to everyone for your help
