header installed ?
i just installed my header and i was wondering what is that bar with bolts on top of where the header mounts to? that probably the best description i could give. i wanted to know because if i could take it out i would.

it mounts on the engine bracket. there is a piece that comes off the stock header that attaches to the header. its kinda tricky to fit right, just try a couple of different positions with the bracket and it will go on.

A picture would have been nice, but I think I have one. You talking about this:
It's called the cylinder head side cover and under it is a gasket. If you remove that thing, you'll have a very large hole in your head. I'm not sure why it's there, but I don't think it would be a good idea to remove it.

It's a cover plate for the air injection ports. If you remove it, you'll have 4 open holes direct to the exhaust ports. Expect to see some flames/fireworks coming from them if you run the engine with the cover plate off.
