HEAD GASKET
ok i am new to this site... i am looking into purchasing an s2k that the sellers mechanic saya it just needs a head gasket... i know overheating = BAD! Any takes on what i should do. it has 140,000 miles so if i purchase i am def rebuilding head while it is off. has anyone had problems with blocks or heads. what do you all think i should say to this. and if anyone is interested in a 2005 yamaha R6 let me know.

ya i am driving to see it this weekend. i am a tech at mercedes benz i wam just curious if these blocks have had many problems where overheating always causes something else to fail so parts are only 60 bucs from dealer for me and then my time. but i was more worried if these heads are weak rigth on overheating to where they warp. and i will get all those compression ratings this weekend. what do you think would be appropriate readings for a 2000 with 140k miles?

there are plenty i know this one matches what i want and it is being sold to me for under 5500 bucs so i think very good deal if it is JUST the head gasket. but thank you for those specs i will let you know what i find.

Since there is no way to tell, why don't you pull off the head and measure out everything with a straight edge and feeler gauge?

well i would like to know before i buy the car and i dont want to get screwed over or none the less remove the head of someone elses car. i might try and talk down even more and take my chances. worst case scenario do you know a site with good blocks?
