Default Having Trouble Opening My Door!

Hey,

I have been having issues with my door and the problem began yesterday.

When I press the alarm remote, the driver side door does not unlock. I hear it make a clicking noise but nothing is happening. With the door constantly being locked, I can not exit the vehicle from the inside or pull on the handle from the outside. The only way that I can exit the car now is if I insert the key and fiddle with it and this is not cool.

Do any of you have any ideas what this could be? The problem appears to be inside of the door near the key hole but I can't see what exactly is wrong with that linkage.

Please Help

I had the plastic door latch fail were it connects to the actuator rod for the lock. If the rod falls down and gets cought up in other mechanisms, that could be the problem.

long time ago, on a different car, someone tried to break in to the car and by trying it, bent the linkage between lock and handle. I tried to bend it back but it never came back to a good shape. I think it may have happend to you. you may have to take the door panel out and inspect it carefully. fyi, I never got that thing fixed.

Is this something that is easy to fix? It appears that I will have a hard time reaching in there. What did you do to fix this issue?

When I pull the door latch from the inside of the car, it sounds like something is hissing up against the door... Just doesn't sound normal.

You'll have no choice but the remove the inner door panel and then the plastic moisture barrier to see what's not connected. Then reconnect it. You may need new parts but until you go in there, you won't know what is needed. This, or have the dealer do it.

I did go in there. I had the door panels off but I couldn't tell what exactly was wrong. The other issue is how the heck do you fix it with that small amount of space

It is indeed a tight space. Small hands help. You'll have to operate the inside door lock to see which lever moves and in which direction is moves to unlock. You can then use your key and turn it to see how that operates the lock mechanism. Same goes for the remote lock/unlock solenoid. Then it's a matter of putting the two things together to figure out what the rod must do to the lock mechanism. That should clue you in to where the rod end must attach to. You have to be a bit of a handyman to figure these things out.
