Take a look at your owners manual. It talks about oil consumption during breakin and the need to check the oil at every fillup. Do a search and you will find numerous threads on the subject. Most S2K's burn oil in the break in period. Yours is not nearly as bad as some others.

...........yes....everyone. Check your oil at every fill up. Your oil skirt rings will seal up somewhere between 5 and 10,000 miles. This is why you should not go synthetic for at least 10K.

I have 12,000 mi on my MY02. No oil loss for 1,000 mi but when i reach 300 more mi. it sips 1 - 1.5 "X's" worth. Seems like the magic number is 1000 mi. and then suddenly just driving 300 more miles oil dissapears. Amazing how quick it happens. I use Mobil 1 10-30 (first used at 9000 miles).

I put a little over 5 in every oil change and add about a quart between 3k changes. 30k on my clock

When the manufacturer says to check the oil every time you fill the tank you should be checking it about every 300 miles or so. I suggest you keep it at the full line. I have a partial bottle of oil and add whatever it takes to make it full. The more V-tec you do, the more oil you tend to use. Drive it hard ( like racing) and check even more frequently. V-tec is touchy and as little as 1/2 quart low can inhibit it from engaging (personal experience.)
I suggest you sit down and read the owners manual again. Good reading.
