Have you changed your diff fluid more than once?

I changed the diff and tranny fluids for the first time at 6K. Both were filthy and the oem diff fluid was repugnant at best. At that time, I was reading about members having mysterious diff failures so I thought it was cheap insurance to do the change sooner. Judging by the fluid quality, I started thinking that 6K was too long of a change interval. The next change was all fluids at 10K. As Gernby and others all so discovered, the fluid was still fresh. From then on, I have change the engine oil every 2.5K and both tranny and diff ever 5K. I like the Neo synthetic MTF better than others I have tried. So far it has been in the tranny for 8K.

Since Reading a post from xviper on changing the diff fluid I was wondering how much the dealer would charge. So I called two local dealers in Miami and ask them how much it was to change the diff fluid. I was thinking it should be no more than 30 bucks considering that is was easier and less expensive than changing the oil.
Any how I call and ask how much is it to change my diff fluid? A service manager said 109. I was like Did I hear correctly. So I asked again. He said 109. I was like what is that in pesos or something. Where are you getting 109 from it takes less time and money than an oil change? He said labor and getting the car in the right angle to drain the fluid. And thats when I lost it I said forget I'll do it my self and it will take me 15 minutes and about 90 buck less. What a f*cking rip off.

I had my dealer change my tranny and diff oil at 2000 miles. I was more concerned that the levels might have been low since the shifter was more notchy than I expected and the diff was a little more noisey than I liked. The noise was reduced and the shifting got smoother after the change. I basically plan on changing my diff oil at every other oil change (3500 to 4500 miles with Mobile 1 although I still have breakin oil and will switch to Mobile 1 after 7500 miles) and will be using Mobil 1 75-90 GL-5 fluid. Changing diff oil is easy, cheap and will add about 10 minutes to your oil change.
