Read the new import tuner. A good cat got 5hp and 4/5 torque. They mentioned the test pipe making more than a cat but very breifly lol. I guess they didnt want people to realize a test pipe makes more power than a cat. As for ebay parts I wouldnt put that crap on my car. You wanna nickel and dime ur car to death buy a civic.

Add the O2 sensor defeat to your test pipe and see if it helps AFTER you pull the code to make sure the lack of the cat is throwing the code.
Dear EK9 (Guest),
As for those of us who are driving our S w/o a cat being environment terrorists, I will put mine up against any semi truck driving down the freeway right now and see which one is putting out more harmful exhaust. I drive mine about 5,000 miles a year vs. a S with a cat who drive 20,000+. Who puts out more detrimental fumes?
If it makes you feel better, I drive an Insight 35,000 miles a year and it is a SULEV. Does that make up for it?

I'm not really sure how a cat works... i don't know how many people do.
I know it "catalyzes"
I really don't feel like "google-ing" "How catalytic convertors work", however, i'm sure that the mesh in a cat only slows how much of the fumes/smell comes out... it will still ALL come out. Unless the toxic fumes "self-destruct" in a catalytic convertor then ummm... they still exit your exhaust tips.
I'm pretty sure 18-wheelers, jets, boats, factories, powerplants, etc... do alot more damage.
The fact that an airplane is above you, does not mean it does not pollute the environment. Also, just because there are no boats or factories around the city/suburbs does not mean pollution does not spread. It's not like the fumes from my car stay around the sidewalk you walk on, chill there for a little while until a padestrian walks down the street, and jumps into his/her lungs ...might as well live in a bubble.
Then again, what do I know? ...I love my test pipe. The sounds change is worth it
