Default Has anyone rebuilt their clutch master cylinder?

I've searched but only found threads where people asked whether they should replace or rebuild their clutch master cylinder. I found an exploded view of the clutch master cylinder and you can order all of the o-rings separately. has anyone tried actually rebuilding their cylinder, and what were the results? my friend just took off his leaking cylinder and I was interested in rebuilding it.

I'm thinking a new part is cheap enough to not make your time not worth it.

But I may be wrong

yea someone very knowledgeable told me they are rebuildable, but i don't see where you'd buy the seals from because on the honda part site it just lists the whole cylinder. am i your friend?

No, I'm his friend! I just took off my leaking one and looked into rebuilding it. Couldn't hurt to have a spare.

I couldn't find anything either. One thing I did notice in my search, tho. The cms from AutoZone is actually MORE EXPENSIVE than the one from Honda.

I rebuilt one on a C4 corvette I use to own. I was tired of buying them new. They would begin to leak after little less than a year. The rebuild lasted about 6 months. It was easy and cost about $10 vs. $100 ish.

okay here it is. the master cylinder down to its bare bones. The seals on the piston actually have a fair amount of resistance sliding through the body, so they seen okay? So that raises two questions. Was it just all that dirt in there causing a leak, and will a simple cleaning and reassembly solve the leak? hmmm... time to experiment.

and by the way... nightcrawler is not the friend.....

j/k thanks for the MC Rashad.
