Has anyone had this noise
OK, I will try and explain this. I am getting a hallow metal on metal churning sound while cruising. It happens at any rpm or speed and it is only at a certain throttle position (barely pressing pedal). Has anyone had this problem or is this normal. Also it is not the clutch buzz issue b/c I had that fixed with a new clutch and new disk. Maybe something did not get greased when putting the new clutch in. I have had this sound for months and it has not gotten any louder and everything functions perfectly. I just put 3 coats of Quiet Car sound Dampener in my whole interior and The noise is still there so maybe it is not the tranny or clutch. Any Ideas?
Thanks for any help and sorry for another stupid noise post.

Believe it or not, it almost sounds normal. i think I know the noise you're talking about. It only comes at very light throttle, like no accel or decel at all. I can get any s2k to make it if I try....

I do have a broken bolt on the header heatshield. Do you think that could be it? It doesnt seem loose but maybe it is vibrating. It is just wierd b/c it is at a certain throttle position. I will get the bolt fixed and maybe that will work.
Thanks for the help.

1; Does it only happen when you are driving or can you hear it if you are stopped in the car either at idle or with revs?
2; If you can hear it when the car is stopped, is it coming from the engine or around the gearbox? best way to tell is if its louder in the cockpit than under the hood then its your gearbox area if the other way around then it the engine!
Hopefully its a heat shield of somekind, you should try and get it to a garage on some ramps then jack the back end up and get under it when someone else is driving to try and pinpoint the area.
Good luck

It only happens while driving. I cant get it to do it while in neutral or reving with clutch pressed. I will get that bolt fixed right away and see if that is it. Thanks

I have found and fixed 5 noises which everyone from the dealer to a local Honda race shop said was something in the cluth or tranny. The last of which was the hood prop rod. See if yours shakes around whhen snapped in. It is connected on the right to a metal tab which transfers all the vibration through the body. Also check your radiator and fans in the back, I had one that if you jiggeled it, made a metallic loud vibration during deceleration. Ech time you fix one rattle a slightly different one appears. Good Luck!
