The hardtop its self is the same for all model years, the only difference is the install kit varies by model year.

So you can install any hardtop on any S2000, you just need the proper install kit for your model year.

If you can remove the rear catchers from the 2001, you can bolt the hardtop right on your car with those. They are the largest cost item to install the top. About 500 US

If you only have the hardtop, yes you can get the parts you need from HardTopGuy

Ok... I talked to the guy who is selling the hardtop. It's off a m.y. 2000 and he has all the mounting hardware. If I understand correctly, as long as the hardtop comes with its side latchers and side catchers there should be no problems.. please correct me if I'm wrong.

Lastly, I visited HARDTOP guy's web site and they do have two different KITS according to the model year and VIN. This makes it even more confusing

My VIN is JHMAP11302T200357

thanks

You have an MY02, so as long as you get everything the prior owner has in the way of mounting hardware, and wiring. You should be fine. The MY02+ cars have a rear defroster in the softtop, so you will need less then all other prior models to iget the defroster to work on the hardtop.

Find a copy of the installation instructions and see what parts need to be installed. You will need to exchange a few parts with the prior owner, but they are very minor. Side brushes, bolts for the cathers, etc.

On a side note: The VIN only matters for MY00 cars. As they had to have the rear panels and center console replaced to support the hardtop. After VIN XXX in MY01 Honda put the replacement parts on the car (panels and console). All the rest was defroster wiring.

A set of rear catchers, wiring to connect the diffroster and a few other odds and ends required for installation. Like 2 rubber bumpers, form tape to hold the wiring in-place, etc. IF you can find the installation instructions, there is a detailed list of the parts and where they are installed. It was posted in this forum just a few days ago.
