HARDTOP question

Default HARDTOP question

ok so im finally taking out the soft top... but will i need a different set of side catchers? because doesnt the oem ones bolt on to a part of the soft top hardware? correct me if im wrong because i probably am. thanks in advance for any info.

i dont think it is... im lookin at the diagrams in my Honda service manual and it looks to be a whole unit that is bolted to the body. if you want i can scan it and email it to you.

One member told me, I would need to add spacers/ washers where the side cathers are when gutting the soft top. Another freind said I would not need to add spacers/washers (both are running hard tops without soft tops ).

I will be gutting mine too and will post what we needed to do (may be a little while before I gut it though ). I will watch this thread to see what I need to do to make everything fit right.

I don't know about removing the soft top, but the oem hardtop needs side catchers that are bolted onto the body of the car..

The rear catchers have 4 bolts each. Two of the bolts mount to the car body and the other two mount to the softtop frames if I remember correctly. The two are enough to mount the hardtop. I had my HT installed like that for a week or two. I never drove that car because it had no motor at the time. But it looked to be held on just fine.
