Default Hardtop question

May sound like a stupid question, but i don't know anyone that has a hardtop. When you install a hardtop do you just retract the convertible top down and lay the hardtop over it? or do u have to take the whole convertible assembly out? i know that you need new strikers and weather stripping and other things too, just wondering how that works. thanks for the help

Retract the soft top. Some people remove the rag top and the motor to save some pounds if they do not plan on going back in the summer months. So you can do it either way.

Do you mean the initial install or do you mean in regular use? In regular use you just put the top down and set the hardtop on the car. There are four attachments to make, but they are simple. You also have to plug in the window defogger plug.

In the initial install there is some other work to be done.

With a helping hand the top can be put on/ taken off in about a minute.

Don't remove the convertible top unless you are building a serious race car.

It's a huge job removing and reinstalling it and totally unnecessary.
