Holy old thread Batman. The 04 is thicker and less prone to rattle.

i have a hardtop and am constantly having to take it off and retighten the screws on the mounts. i used some loc-tite on the strikers and that seemed to solve the problem, but now recently it seems like i need to do the same to the side catchers as now the noises seem to come from the back....

has anyone else had this situation?

Mine have been pretty solid save for some noise from the front passenger striker simply because it is getting worn down. On the subject of removing and installing the hardtop on your own - it can be done. I have done it several times and so long as you are careful and have good hand/forearm strength then it is a piece of cake. I much MUCH prefer to have someone help me but that is not always practical. The hardtop is nearly noise free compared to the soft top. I am pleased with how little noise the soft top actually lets through but there is definately a big difference between the 2. I love my hard top. It transforms the look of the car, significantly decreases the noise level in the car, and is great for the winter and keeping heat in the car.
