Hardtop latch rattle
I just purchased a used hardtop off another member. When i first put it on and drove home with it i didn't hear or remember any rattles coming from the front driverside latch, but after adjusting the side locking brackets to get rid of the gap on the sides of the car, my driverside front latch started to rattle.
Is there any way to adjust the latch to make it tighter or anything on the hardtop? My passenger side is pretty tight and i need to use a little muscle to clamp the latch to the striker on the windshield, but it seems like the driverside is a little loose and doesn't need any force to lock in. I've checked all the screws and bolts plus the strikers on the windshield, but none of that looks loose.
Any ideas on what i can do or try...

Can't say for sure. I have only seen a few post on this problem and all were '00 and '01 cars. Honda might have got this prob solved on the '02 +. Like spider alluded to.
edit; The book does show a different striker for '02 +.

Yeah, i upgraded the strikers. I took them off the other car and exchanged them with mine, i know they were the new ones because they were a lot heavier and beefier.
any other ideas..

Helms page 20-63 provides the hard top adjustment procedure.
From what I see, you might need to pull the left side bottom back and the right side bottom forward to fix the difference in the front.
Or you might need to install shims (E).
Crack open the book and see what you get out of it.

I'm reviving this thread...
I also have developed a rattle on my passenger side latch. It's an '00 but has the upgraded striker plates.
The helms manual only shows one adjustment, and it seems to be the limit switch for how far the top goes up before cutting the motor, no ajustment for the latch itself.
I suppose if I adjust the stop switch so the top stops sooner, the latch will have to stretch the top slightly to get it to close and keep it in tension, hopefully solving the rattle.
Can anybody confirm this?
