Hardtop demister (softop works)
Folks,
I have a 2003 S2000. It has the heated glass rear window as part of the soft top and this works fine.
As it is now winter I put on the hardtop and connected up the rear window demist on it. It does not work and never has while I have owned the car. I checked the element/window plug from the hardtop and I have contunuity there. I checked the socket behind the passenger seat (rhd car)and I do not have 12v. So that looks to be my problem.
Does anyone know why this may not work?
Also does anyone know is the softop heated window still turning on when I press the switch or is there some type of switch that determines the roof is down and stops this happening.

First thing to do is check to make sure you have all the wiring harnesses installed to power the hardtop defroster. One of the hardtop side catchers should have a small button that disables the operation of the soft top when the hardtop is installed, and I would suppose this also disables the soft top defroster.

Sorted. On the rear left (passenger side for Ireland) corner of the hardtop right beside the lever that twists to hold the top down there is a rubber cylinder. This pushes against a switch when the hardtop is down and allows current to the hardtop. I am guessing it also stops current to the softtop.
Well my rubber cylinder was missing. We made a small alloy (my mate is a whizz on a lathe) cylinder, tapped for a small bolt and fitted that.
Working fine now. Steve
