Hard to downshift
Here goes...
Lately, when attempting to downshift I'm having to multi-pump my clutch pedal in order to downshift. Here's some specifics:
94,000 miles
'04
Clutch works free and easy when the engine is not on.
No recent work besides an oil change a few months ago.
Upshifts seem to work fine.
This happens reliably when I downshift, sometimes when putting the car into reverse I can either 'force' it or pump the clutch pedal.
The clutch pedal has about 50% play before it engages normally.
Sometimes when moving the gears around first to third the tranny will clunk as the car gets into gear. Anytime I'm forced to multi-pump first, if I don't the gear will clunk into place.
No weird sounds going on any other time. All other driving seems normal.
I'd love to hear that this is a fluid thing but I morbidly expect it to be much worse.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. I think you're on it.
Fluid was low and dirty.
I refilled the reservoir and pumped the hell out of the pedal. I don't have a lift to get under the car. Clutch worked very well until I was out on the highway. I could feel the pedal get soft again. I can't see any signs of leakage and the level is staying the same.
I googled this and flushing looks pretty easy. I'm guessing the flush will do the trick but should I be considering a new clutch ($$$) after 94k? I'd ask the dealer but he'd just say HELL YES.
