Hand Polished Intake Pics
Just thought I would share my updates on my intake. I have spent numerous hours polishing this intake with a die grinder and finishing by hand. I would say I have spent about 40-80 hours thus far, but the payouts are showing.
The middle runners are almost complete and have been hit with 1000 grit and no polishing compound. The top and outside runners still have a bit of work left to do, but should look identical to the others.
Opinions?
This is the underside which is untouched. You can see the significant difference.

Well, I would imagine that a polished intake would probably run in the ballpark of 500-1000 of labor alone, possibly more. I also take satisfaction in doing my own work.

Take some more material off of it. Grind off those runner supports underneath. Grind off those unnecessary bosses. At the back there is a solid area of aluminum you can cut into. I took 3-1/2+ pounds off of mine.
This picture is the back of the manifold. You can see where the material has been removed.
That big square plug of aluminum is gone.
Three runners supports are gone.
It does buff up nice.

Sideways, please let me know the steps you used to do the polishing. Maybe I'm not going about it the right way...but mine doesn't look anywhere close to yours. I've been spending numerous hours hand polishing and it does shine. However, nothing like yours. If I didn't know better, I would swear yours is chromed. !!!
