Half shaft in tranny shot, repair under warranty

I've had problems with unpredictable 1-2 grinds almost since I got my car in November 2001, and lately, when driving down hills at slow speed, the car would slip out of gear into neutral. With my warranty nearing expiration, I took the car to Scott Honda in Westchester, PA for Tim Andrzejewski (suzukatim), who is an S2000 owner whom I've met at various events, to take a look.
Tim pulled and disassembled the tranny and found the halfshaft was in bad shape, probably the result of a defect when the car was assembled at the factory. I will get a new or rebuilt tranny, depending on how long the needed parts or a new tranny will take to arrive (everything appears to be on back order). The parts and labor will be covered by the warranty, which is only fair, given the judicious care I've given the tranny from day one (four fluid changes in 30,000 miles for example, and no abusive driving habits). Who said that Honda does not honor its warranty commitments?
Tim will be sending some photos of the damaged halfshaft and the disassembled tranny, which I will post when they come.
BTW, I strongly recommend Tim and Scott Honda if you live anywhere nearby or in the surrounding states. Tim is a great guy and a superb tech, and Scott appears to be one of the best dealerships for service I've encountered.

Thanks for the post Rick. I had the same problem, and was refused warrenty repair b/c the car was just outside of the VIN#s for the TSB. However, Jeff and his brother at Ganley Honda took the time to investigate the problem and found that my synchros were shot.
Ganley Honda is another GREAT dealership to go to.
