well...what do you say to the claim that the ap2's have some sort of oem spacers that the ap1's do not.
Never heard that claim before. I've seen one vendor claim that the spacers were for both AP1 and AP2, while I've seen others (perhaps not vendors) saying that they're for the AP1 only, so what conclusions can we draw?
Where would the spacers be on the AP2?
I sure can't see 'em.
I've also heard that the AP2 didn't need the spacers because the axles were longer, but all I care about is the claim that if I lower my AP1 I need 'em. LOL, the AP2 guys will have to figure it out for themselves.

I don't know. How about "Show me?"

if in fact the axles on the AP2 are 7mm longer, then it seems to me that the spacer could make a difference.
I for one just installed them with my PSS9's. Since I was swapping diff's anyway (from an AP2 with 457's to my original AP1 - but with AP2 Caps for reinforcement)
I have a few friends down here that are experiencing vibrations after lowering there cars, some within a week and some over the last few years.
If Billman says they won't hurt anything. mine are staying in
anyone have the measurements on the axles for an ap1, and ap2?

AP2 axles are the same as AP1. The part numbers are exactly the same.
There has been some speculation that the width of the diff from axle flange to axle flange is wider...but no one has measured to find out.

This is why I bought mine. Can anyone verify the info on the AP2?

"AP1's half shaft stretches when your S2k is lowered.
This causes shaft bearing to stretch out causing vibrations & shortening shaft bearing

If you have heavier wheel/tire pkg than stock
There is NO BENEFIT from a spacer with heavier wheels.

This....beyond a shadow of a doubt, proves they are a gimmick.

Saying that lowering the car an inch is going to "cause the shaft bearing to stretch out" because the shaft is "stretched" 10mm (or 7mm) doesn't even make any sense to me either, and given the claim about heavy wheels, this is starting to look more and more like rebuilding your engine by adding "Engine Restorer" to the motor oil.
Billman, did you get the springs installed? Any measurements?
At this point measurements may be moot, but they'd be nice to have.
