Had spark plug TSB done - now have slight hesitation in engine
I brought my car in for an oil change and the spark plug tsb on Monday. Got the car back last night ( after the service guys had gone home ). Drove the car a couple of miles and something didn't feel right. The car seeming to be slightly missing/hesitating.
I first noticed this at a stop light. The car was in neutral. I noticed that the engine seemed to miss or hesitate every couple of seconds.
I then paid more attention to this and found that if I held the car at a constant speed, say 30 mph, I would actually feel a bit of a slow down or lurch/jerk every couple of seconds. I then reproduced this using cruise control in third gear @ 30 mph.
So I returned the car to the dealership. They are looking at it now. Anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this?
Thanks -- Tom

1. Most likely the mechanic didn't push the wiring harness back onto the coil pack till it seated. OR he didn't know about the wiring harness being able to come off and just yanked on the whole wiring assembly along with the coil packs attached and busted a wire somewhere.
2. He dropped a coil pack and busted it.
3. He didn't double check the spark plug gap and one or more is off.
4. One of the new plugs is bad.
5. He didn't screw on one of the coil pack hold down bolts and it's not seated properly on the plug.
There's probably more but that's all I can think of right now. An example of #1 was reported here a few weeks ago. Once they snapped the harness on securely, the car was fine.

Thanks for the input xviper. I just got a call from the dealership and they say that they found that a vacuum hose was slightly disconnected, probably knocked off by the technician who did the work on the car. They say they reconnected the hose and it is running fine now.
Sounds reasonable to me. I'll see how it runs tonight.
