had the car 3 weeks...have a few question
hey all. i bought a 2001 s2000 about a month ago. 19k miles.
i have a few questions
1- oil
yes, i read all the posts on this already, but no one seemd to mention the distinctive scent of burning oil. i get this any time i go over 6k rpm for more than just a second or 2. say i drive the car hard for like 10 minutes, when i get out, it reaks of brning oil. should i be concerned here? im currently running mobil 1 10w30.
2- clicking?
when starting in 1st or reverse, i hear a clicking sound that seems to come from the right rear of the car. also, say im in first, ill hear it if i let off the gas and then hit it again. very strange. any ideas?
thanks for the help.
oh, and if anyone is wondering...the car is still completely stock.

I don't know about your clicking except it's not normal. If you still have warranty, get it checked out.
The s is known to eat oil. The amounts differ. Some people check their's religiously at each fillup. I check about 1/month. I haven't smelled a burning smell at VTEC >6000rpm though.

clicking when starting or stopping can be brake pads or CV joints. bring it in to the dealership and have them inspect your cv joints for wear while you're still under warranty.

Burning oil smell suggests that you may be dripping oil on the manifold. If this is happening, there will be telltale residue. If you're taking the car in for the TSB, you may want to ask them to check for an oil leak.

I get the burning oil smell only after an oil change sometimes - I guess the mechanic spills oil. The smell goes away after a few weeks of driving. Maybe they changed oil in your car before selling it to you?
