gutting stock airbox
So I've read about people have gutted airboxes. I just got a Spoon replica snorkel, off eBay, out of Hong Kong. Carbon / kevlar pattern. Finish is okay, there's a lot of silicone/glue on the inside, bonding two pieces together. Outside, there are a few places where the weave doesn't match up, but can't beat the price. I think I paid the equivalent of C$150 (but nothing for shipping, as my parents happened to be in HK at the time and brought it back for me).
Anyway, I've only opened up the stock airbox once. The previous owner had installed a K&N cone filter. What do people do when they gut the box? Just dremel away the little wall in front of where the cone sits?

Here is what I did with my airbox. I first gutted then I insulated with heat reflective materials. Using a dremel would be faster. I just used a heavy duty X acto knife and a lot of patience. I used double sided tape from auto zone.

Cool, thanks for posting the pix.
I got my replica snorkel off an eBay seller out of Hong Kong. The auction number for my particular snorkel was 290050274205 and the seller is 1ststuff4u.
