I agree that a dyno chart would need to verify the increase in power.
I have been debating this mod for some time now. The only reason that I have yet to perform this mod is the fact that the area underneath the inlet for the airbox acts as a vacuum for debris and moisture. This may or may not be its purpose. After a few days of hard driving in the rain that small area is filled with sand, dirt, and other debris that has been caked together by moisture sucked in by the air duct. The larger area that contains the filter is free from debris and moisture, making me a happy camper.
I may be completely off with that statement, but I just seems to work that way.
Did you not see similar results when you installed your air duct?

what i did was simply allow more air to get to the filter... any debris or anything else could have still gotten to the filter before i took it out... i just allowed more air to actually get to the filter instead of being restricted by the divider plate... it isnt like i cut my airbox in half.. it is still perfectly sealed except for the air inlet... making me a happy camper

Here are some pics....
but how is what your doing different than a comptech or PRM
Not flaming you at all, just interested in your air intake approach
? Anyone ever used the JR filter. I've read some good things.

I have wanted to do this ever since I bought my Spoon replica cai, but after looking at the "L" shaped funnel and the divider, I couldn't see how it would increase the airflow. It looks to me like the "L" would move just as much air as the Spoon cai or OEM funnel.
I can't say that I noticed much (if any) sound change with the cai. Would cutting these parts really make a noticeable improvement?
