It won't really hurt anything, whether it helps is anyone's guess. Regane used to be a highly respected product, I think Gumout is essentially the same product now ?. Just make sure you use it in the appropriate quantity as our fuel tank is on the small side.

One of the only fuel cleaning products that I've ever felt a difference with has been Redline's Fuel injector fuel system cleaner, it's my favourite product and the only one I'm using on the S2K, one bottle will do 2 treatments (2 tanks) once every 6 months or a year is plenty.

Why not just buy Chevron fuel with Techron or just buy the Techron product in a bottle.

I agree with the other opinions expressed here. HandA sells BG and Chevron and Texaco have the Techron as a standard additive in thier fuels. At least by implication, both these products should be safe. How often? Who knows. Spairingly is the safest guess.

I'm not too sure about the Gumout products or their chemistry's. But they've been around for a long time, cheap (sometimes free), and readily available. Just be careful to only use as directed (don't add more for extra measure). Some additives can cause fuel system component damage if left in the system for an extended period of time. So put it in a tankful that you will burn through quickly (within a week). If the product is to be used periodically, then try to time it's use just before an oil change. That way, any strong solvents that found their way into the engine oil sump are quickly removed.

I tried Gumout...didn't do much.

The best I have tried is the BG44K...very strong, good & expensive.

Here is one place I found in a quick search, I'm sure there are other sources.
