I put it on my car because I got it for free so did my friend. My friend car got his battery drain I'm guessing he didn't ground it right. As for my car it made the idle really harsh but when it revs it goes through it slightly cleaner. My friend with a votech supercharge said as well he has cleaner revs. I wonder about the rest of you guys say it doesn't do anything but have you guys actually try it. Just remember don't pay over 10 bucks because it not worth it after.

My friend ran his STi at dyno-comps dyno and recorded a 6whp gain WITH the grounding kit...
I do not know how grounding can increase hp numbers but it did on my friend's car so he kept it.
How much would it help our car? I'm gonna try to dyno my car with/without the apex unit to put an end to all this =)

Firstly, when trying to ascertain a measurement so small, you need to do it scientifically. This means, you need to be measuring intake air temp, coolant temp, etc, on all dyno runs, as many of those things can affect horsepower by a few ponies.
Secondly, when you DO make your dyno runs, you should make AT LEAST 3-4 runs as a baseline, and then again at LEAST 3-4 after. This helps to account for dyno error.
This brings me to my last point. Chances are you will never run exactly the same back to back to back on a dyno. Dyno's have a built in error factor of about 3-5%. So dyno error ALONE would account for your friend's supposed 6whp gain. Aside from all of the other factors which I'm willing to bet he didn't measure either. On top of all that, I'm willing to bet he didn't even run on the same day.
I could take my car, slap it on a dyno, and make a run. I could then get out, install a spoiler, and then get back in and make another run. Since the two dyno runs won't be identical, if my 2nd one is higher, well HOLY CRAP LOOK AT THAT!!!!! MY spoiler just added 5whp!!!! AMAZING!!!!
I think you see my point.

Of course the strange thing about non-scientific testing and cognitive dissonance is that the "small change" is invariably positive. This would be fairly conclusive except for the 'tail between legs' theory which states that when someone has a negative result you don't hear from them.

how do I ground the VTEC solenoid? Where is it? Got pics? I would only use one wire then if I chose to ground that only?
your friend with the EG have no idea how the whole thing work, the solenoid is already ground with teh car, it's called chassis ground.
look at where your negative cable attached to: car's body
it's not some 80's english roadster, the electronic system on modern car is much more better now. A ground kit have no use, trust me

Yeah your question has been answered, your car is fine it is supposed to spark like that, don't worry about it. This retarded debate will be going on forever -- either you want one or you don't, and since yours is already installed don't ask if it's worth it or not, you already made that decision and you must know by now that just asking that questoin will stir up a bunch of people who think you're an idiot for putting it on your car -- why ask? If anything, tell us what your results were. Does your car feel any different?
