Grinding/Rattle from tranny after clutch flywheel.

How can you possibly have a broken engine mount, unless the mechanic pried the crap out off the tranny/engine to get at the upper bolts. I'll bet he put it in the same way, and bent the disc.
There are many ways to cheat when doing an s2k clutch, and they all result in problems. I'd be very suspect of the shop.

If the only buzzes loudly under decel, it's the damper springs in the clutch disc. Just like the original disc's installed in 00-01 cars and updated in 02.
The same noise is described in TSB 01-054.

And a light flywheel most often magnifies tranny whinning noise during decel in gear. Not just the S. Happened to my miata as well.
To the original poster, does the noise go away while driving when you depress the clutch but stay in gear?

Yeah, I had an aluminum flywheel and got rid of it. The rattling did get pretty bad.
