Grinding noise on startup even after replacing starter...
Hey guys, i recently replaced my starter that had an unknown number of miles on it because it was making an awful grinding noise when I would start the car.
When I put the new starter in, i put a little grease on the little starter gear that engages the flywheel as a preventive measure against that grinding noise.
Well, lo and behold, the grinding noise is still there. Its not as terrible as it was with the older starter, but its definitely annoying. Is this something that is just inherent with S2000 starters? Or did i do something wrong? All the connectirs going to the starter are connected as securely as humanly possible so I dont think its that. I also got a new battery to no avail.
Any insight?
By the way, the starter that went into the car was pulled from an s2000 with 33,000 miles.

Have you checked the flywheel? Maybe some teeth are gone or something that could cause that bad noise. My car doesn't have that problem though and I don't think it's a common issue

Starter motor over-run is pretty common on the S2000. Mine has done it forever.
