Grinding noise

Recently, I have been hearing a cyclicle groaning noise. 3 things immediately came up to my mind.
Tires, Wheel Bearing or Diff.
I thought the wheel bearing noise would be more like a grinding noise. Is there any other way I can find out what it is?
and if that's not weird enough... under hard left turn.. I can hear the rotor grinding against the caliper.... but it only does it under hard turn... doesn't grind going straight...
Could a wheel bearing with excessive play cause this?

My car is doing a very similar thing right now. I'm bringing into my shop now to try and locate it. I'll let you know what I find. On another note it's not possible for your rotor to hit the caliper, they are fixed in place. And if there was enough play for that to happen you would have horrible vibrations in the steering wheel. I'd look for any wear marks from full lock turns. See if your rubbing on anything.

I ended up finding play in the left rear wheel bearing. I cranked the he'll out of the axle nut and it tightened it right up. The noise has gone away. You should give that a shot to see if it does anything for you.

if the noise changes at all when turning it is likely a bearing. also if you can wiggle the wheels back and forth and up and down, its a bearing, but you would need to get it off the ground.
and i'm sure you already did, but check to make sure that your brakes are not metal on metal, cause that makes a grinding too

Oh sorry, I guess I forgot to mention I have a big brake kit. The caliper and rotor clearance is close to 1mm or less.
I shake the wheel from side to side and feel VERY little play, thought it was just the gears I'm feeling... however, no play shaking it top to bottom.
I turn the wheel but didn't hear any worn bearing noise
Is these symptoms enough to assume it is the wheel bearing?? I'm not too sure because the car is only 45,000 km... the bearing is a bit early to be worn.
