Grinding Gears in Second

yeah thats interesting b/c in AP2 it does the samething grinds into second until the tranny warms up real good..... is this also b/c of the syncros not being able to slow the tranny?
As you know, the AP2 synchros are carbon/carbon. The carbon synchros just need a little more time to warm up until they work optimally.
I double clutch and baby my transmission until everything is up to operating temperature. I went to an AP2 trans in my '03 due to the benefits of the gearing (along with my 4.56 gears). It's incredibly notchy until it warms up (well, was ... the car is in storage while I'm overseas).
I was told the model engineers suggested two changes to the S2000 transmission and clutch setup (to fix the 1-2 grind problem). Lighten the disc and/or input shaft, or redesign the transmission with much 'stronger' synchros. Honda went to the transmission manufacturer who suggested the CF synchros ... or so the story goes. The CF synchros are stronger, but still not strong enough for the rapid-fire shifting people tend to put the S2000 through. Hence, the problematic 1-2 grind still exists.

nitpicking a lil bit.. going to bigger gears would make you shift faster wouldnt it??? faster accel. thats like .01 faster than stock.
the actual speed of your shift is determined by your own skill. just because the car is accelerating faster, doesn't mean you have to shift any faster than when the final drive gear was stock.

when you say faster shifting, i think of this:
let's say you normally shift from 1st to 2nd in .7 seconds. faster shifting would mean it now takes you now only .5 seconds to shift from 1st to 2nd. i'm talking about the actual motion of shifting.
