+2 Buy the correct fluid. It's cheap, available, easy to change, and there are a bunch of options. No excuse to leave what you had "laying around" in the transmission. Buy the correct fluid.

I find it a lot easier to fill the trans using a funnel and a long peice of tubing




Using Honda MTF for track/street use, you'll probaby want to do a MTF swap every 2 or 3 track events or every 3K miles (whichever comes first). It has all the right friction modifiers, but seems like it breaks down very quickly.

quick test drive and all seems well. It does seem pretty thin so I’m not surprised track use would break it down.

im still going to look at my clutch free play. It is engaging about mid stroke, not at the floor. I’m going to see if I can measure the free play and get it as closed to 1/4”

the free play in my clutch is just enough to depress the switch. If I measure from where the switch is engaged then I’m within spec. If I measure from the pedal then I need to take up slack.

where should I measure the free play from?

At the actual pedal, not higher up the arm.

Measure where human interface to car occurs. Where foot presses to make clutch work.

Car Analogy

Easiest way to judge play, get down there and use hand to press pedal. Easier to feel when you are feeling play vs that initial soft resistance of pressure plate springs vs foot. Also easier to gauge play distance with hands and eyes down there.
