grind upon shifting in to second
is it normal to get a grind/not be allowed in to 2nd gear every once in a while? it happens mostly when i floor it (not redline, but shift at maybe 7k rpm) and shift fast into 2nd. i just got another tranny put in my car maybe 2,000 miles ago because in my last one i got completely locked out of 5th gear (according to other members here, the consensus was that it was from skipping gears). i no longer skip gears
also, the hardness of my clutch pedal varies from time to time. and sometimes it feels smooth, and sometimes it feels like notchy. like my foot is pressing the pedal over ridges (not sure if that makes sense to you guys). is this normal? what could the problem be? my only mods that would make a difference are:
1.) brand new OEM clutch package
TIA

First thing to do when diagnosing a problem is to check maint. of that component and connected components. In this case, when is the last time the clutch was bleed and was it done correctly?
The s2000 transmission, like most great manual trasmissions, show driver error/carelessness quite well but it's important to verify the correct issue before blaming driving habits.

I can't help with the clutch, but the grinding may be diminished with a fluid change to the NEW Honda MTF. Mine got better when I changed it.

it's probably used syncro(you said it was used right?), try gmsmfm see if it will improve. it could be the preious owner of the tranny used wrong type of mtf and caused damge to the syncro
nothing short of a rebuilt will totally fix it, learn how to double clutch, rev match now(when you do, you don't even need to use the clutch pedal to shift)
you'll be surprise how many manual tranny driver don't really know how to drive a manual gearbox probably(not trying to diss the op, or the previous owner of the tranny)

i double clutch and rev match, but i don't shift without clutching.
well, describe the grind in detail, i mean it can't be the syncro then, if you do know how to DC and MR correctly

and it still grinds? i mean you can pretty much drive old car without syncro AT ALL with double clutch and match rev.

I don't see how people can actually double clutch this car from 1st to 2nd and not get run over by the car behind you at the light. A true double clutch technique is so slow.

my clutch does the same thing, no idea what it is, but it changes in pedal effort from day to day, one minute it could be light and smooth as butter, and then the next it will feel like im stepping on a big ball of paper crunched up.
