I thought the whole point of having e-manage is to change your MAP

Arise / Macca use the Mugen ECU, because have only one map and do not learn in close loop conditions

but if you take out the fuse 25 is like having a ECU without learning capabilities

so can anyone tell me if the e-manage has similar "learning" problems with OBDI systems, or is that just OBDII?

OBDI systems still have some self learning abilities. It depends what kind of car you are installing it on.

Well, it is going into a 1990 Chevrolet Beretta with a HO Quad 4 engine and a factory ECM. I know that there are BLM cells which "learn" the engine's fuel habits. I just don't know if these are going to be problematic or not. I don't know a whole lot about the E-Manage, so the OBDII problems associated with it have me wondering.

GTZ, your in uncharted territory with that combination. Doesn't the Factory ECM use a replace-able PROM? How about contacting some of the TPI/LT1 people about burning you a new PROM?

Well, If you mean to use that as my main source of tuning, it's not what I need. It does have a replaceable PROM, but I need to be able to tune this unit many different times. So custom PROM burning wont be financially feasible, UNLESS you are recommending that I do this to remove the learning feature before installing the greddy.

GTZ, your application is about 2 generations of electronics removed from current OBDII. GM is not my area of expertise. GM does share similar electronic systems with the F cars/vettes trucks. I would contact one of the GM specialists and ask thier opinion on what is a feasible electronics package for what you want to do. I believe Fueling engineering did a lot of Quad-4 work back in the 80's with the Olds Aerotech. Unfortunately, Us S2k'ers don't know much about them.
