got spare diff
should i keep it incase my own one blows ?
should i sell
or the one am more leaning towards is 4.77 final gear
i dont use car long distance and not really into taking s2k over 130mph get a lot of lift and unstable at high speed,iv got my gsxr for high speed @ race tracks so 100mph is plenty had a subaru P1 gear restricted to 120mph and it got there in a flash 350whp 0-120, i miss the get up and go, so thinking the kia Sportage 4x4 front axle ring and pinion will do the trick iv done a lot of research just looking for useful info, what else do i need gaskets, parts ? id need new honda diff oil but what else ? please haters do not to post
ps i am new to s2k's so i dont know everything about them and i suffer from dyslexia so my spelling and grammar is bad i do try tho

Unless you've done it before, you will NOT be installing your own 4.77 gears in your spare diff.

Ill try to shed some light on your problem. A diff needs near to exact pressure while installing the ring and pinon. If incorrect pressure is used you will get diff wine, diff will prematurely go out, or it will just lock when you put it on the car. Its a very exact process that needs tons of attention.

You can try to do it and there is a great margin for success but the margin for failure is also great, so I would rather pay someone more patient and precise than me. Message puddydaddy, he specializes in our diffs.
Good Luck!

The response was a bit curt, but so is your reaction to it. Let's be nice guys. We're supposed to be amongst friends here.
I also have rebuilt and engine (F20C) but wouldn't deem myself worthy of rebuilding a diff. It's a black (or russian blue) art.

where did i say i was going to fit it myself ? how on gods earth do you know what my mechanical knowledge is like ? geezo some people on this forum wind me up, as a matter of fact i rebuilt my 3s-GTE engine (Toyota's 2.0 turbo)use in Celica gt4 and mr2. and when i say rebuilt i mean right down to crank pistons rods valves valve springs all replace fitted new 272 hks cams, Rebuilt my the gearbox replace syncro's and new gearing, also race in the Motocross endurance and rebuild my engine every 3rd race, so next time you come to a thread PLEASE Dont assume the person writing it does not have a clue, iv not dont a Final gear on a s2000 so was looking for any useful type etc or things to watch out from people that have done it, or if i needed and other parts for the new final gear or is it just new seals and ring and pinion plus oil

Hi, You need 1 tube Honda bond, 1 bottle Honda lock, 2 axle seals, 1 pinion seal, 1 pinion nut, 1 distance piece, pinion shim kit, and a set of pinion bearings if yours need replacing. If the rear has low miles you may not need to replace the bearings.
Doing it your self requires proper tools or bring it to a shop with the parts listed along with the section of the service manual showing a proper break down and install of the ring and pinion. Good luck
