Got a CEL tonight.
Spun the S around in parking lot just to see how easy it is and it died on me. Parking lot was sealed a couple days ago so it let lose real quik and got a CEL.
I was real close to the house so drove it home. Got it up to 3000 rpm and it cut out so I let off gas and it kept going then ran fine the mile or so home. I read on here somewhere about fuel cutoff or 2 wires on the back of valve cover coming off so instead of pullin fuse I pulled bat cable off for a few seconds then replaced it. Cel was gone when I started it back up and drove round to see if it came on but it stayed gone. Should I have not done that and waited till morning to have the parts guy read the CEL or what. Car only has 3000 miles on it but havn't realy ran it hard yet.

I doubt that it is something serious but I have spun my car in just about every direction possible at autox and it never died.Something is up.Don't know if u can retrieve the code now after clearing it? How much fuel was it the tank? If I had any warranty left and it throw a code I'd go straight to the dealership.3K rpms sound like the car was in limp mode.

If the car wouldn't rev beyond 3k, sounds like the ECU has it in self-preservation mode. Is your oil level ok? Clearing the CEL yourself probably wasn't a good move because we need to pull the code. Guessing you had VSA disabled when you were messing around?

check all vitals, oil.. spark plugs... just to make sure. better yet, with warrenty just take it to the dealerhsip.

VSA was off and gas tank full but after the spinout the car rolled backwards alittle then died an didn't want to start but did finally. will drive it tomorrow and see what happens. I guess I better get a scangauge 2 so I can figure this shit out when it happens.

Any update? I've had my car for 3.5 months and have been wanting to explore the limits of grip a little in an empty parking lot just to become better acquainted with it. Reading this makes me wary though.

Oil is fine plugs are fine and I took it to the golf course this morning and its like nothing ever happened. My 16 yr old daughter was in front of me when I spun it around and has been wanting to drive it till she saw that happen in her rearview mirror. She wanted to drive it the day I got it so I said ok but we were on the tollway and she's afraid to drive with all the nuts. She called me right after I did it to see what happened and I told her thats what happens when you give it to much gas. Now she says she never wants to drive it so thats good.

I spun it on the track 180deg with VSA off, rolled backwards but clutched in before car stalled. VSA and I THINK Brake light was on, so I shut the car off and turned it back on on the next straight and the lights went out. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
I'm not sure why you would get a CEL light though. Get a code reader and read it, my last OBD2 car preserves the last CEL even after you reset/clears.
