It all depends on what DTC, and if your drive cyles meet the criteria for the monitor to run.

The OBD error has to trigger the lamp within three start-ups with warm-up cycles (from 40degC to 70degC) or earlier. Some manufacturers choose a strategy which triggers the lamp quite earlier, but the above is the maximum which is allowed by law. So technically speaking you can drive 1000km in one go, and still not trigger the lamp! three times 10km could do the trick though.
