Going to install spoon calipers
I'm going to install my spoon calipers this week along with my earls ss brake lines. I'm going to use stock pads with the brakes untill i can afford some other pads. I've read that you have to trim some metal piece off the stock pads in order for them to fit. Do i still use the stock shims with the spoon brakes or do I take them off. If anyone who has done this install before could give me some pointers it would be appreciated. thanks.

You gotta make sure if the wheels will clear the calipers or not. After you install everything and you finally find out the wheels won't clear then you are pretty much screwed.

Yeah I'm pretty sure if you have stock wheels they aren't going to fit.
I feel like I'm missing something here... I don't know how you could afford the Spoon calipers but not have enough for a set of $100 pads?

I know the calipers are gonna fit because i just bought spoon wheels, thats why i can't afford brake pads right now. I have a car show comming up this weekend and i'm kinda in a rush to get everything done. I'm gonna buy brakeman #3 pads next week sometime. thanks for all the imput i hope everything goes smoothly.

I had these caliper a few years ago. Great calipers for the money. Anyway, you do have to trim/cut the sensor tab off of your OEM pads. No big deal. Simple 20 second procedure. If you have the Spoon wheels then you will have no problem with fitment. I had those as well back in the day. You will have about 2mm of clearance from the caliper edge to the wheel spoke. I would run OEM pads if your daily driving the car. If your tracking it I would upgrade to something else.
Just a FYI, the Spoon calipers are very easy to find wheels to fit with little to no spacers. They are not that much bigger than OEM. Now if you jump to bigger calipers (Endless, Winmax, Project Mu) then you will have a very short list of wheels to choose from.
Good luck!
