The noise from the chain, resulting from a bad TCT, is a very loud distinct fast ratcheting noise. It is far from normal. If your car has this, you will hear it from 20 feet away.

To date, I have never found a single clogged VTEC screen. I like the theory, but it has not been the cause of issue on the 15 plus s2k's I've done tensioners on.

I'm in the garage now, hope for some answers soon.
The other night was the first one we have seen with a clogged screen too , but it was the reason the tensioner was not working properly .

Just another thing that is on our check list now.

I know are are working on a modded tensioner , Have you tried opening the hole in the jet on the backside ?

I put the modded 04 tensioner (the one that was noisy as hell) in my car just now. Initial startup is great. This thing was noisy all the time, I'll post impressions in a few days

Depechek, yes oil was changed. I think in my case I have just not checked my oil recently. I can almost clearly recall the first time I felt my hesitation in Vtec, which was about 2 weeks ago, and the Tensioner noise began last week, so my oil must of be getting low right around that point. Glad to report everything is working fine now.
