GMsynchromesh - Friction Modified
Anyone have 5-10K miles on the GMsyncFM transmission fluid?
Any speculation on how long we'll be able to go between fluid changes?
I'm especially interested in hearing from anyone who's made the switch.
Thanks...

I changed to the GM FM fluid from Honda MTF at 8,400 miles. I had been to three track days on the Honda fluid. I have approx. 200 street miles on the GM fluid and one track day. My transmission has never been as notchy feeling as it is right now. I will change back to Honda MTF this week and will not use anything else in the future. If changing back to Honda fluid doesn't restore my tranny I will post here to let everyone know. Good luck.

What's the deal behind the magic of using the GM FM MTF? I heard a few good things about it from turbo_pwr but this is the first time I've been hearing negatives which is good since I wanted to seek as many views as possible.

Thanks for the responses. I've recently put the GMsyncFM in my car and it's clearly removed the cold notchiness. It doesn't appear very promising for 10K tranny fluid changes, though (based on what I've read on this thread). Maybe some other folks have had better long term results...

The S2000 tranny seems to have so much individual personality. The only tranny oil I've been able to use for more than 3K miles is GMSFM. Even after 10K miles, it is better than NEW Honda MTF for me. I've tried 2 changes each of Honda MTF, Redline MT-90, GM Synchromesh (regular), and GM Synchromesh Friction Modified. I will never go back to any of the previous choices.
I have also done several track days and autocrosses in 90+ F degree temps without problems.
