GM Synchromesh SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

This is interesting, how the different transmission fluids work in different cars. The GM Synchromesh fluid seems to work for a lot of people, but there are a few that can't tolerate it? It has transformed mine into the best shifting transmission that I have ever driven. Much better than with the Honda fluid, much better. I have had no grinds at all since changing the fluid, about 3,000 miles. Yet other people can't use it, I don't understand.
I think that I will try the Pennzoil fluid the next time, since it is made to the same spec and is $4.95/qt.

that's wierd RT, I had a very good experience with it at buttonwillow last month. it was incredibly hot too.
if u have trouble going into 1st, what i do is rev a little while pushing gently into 1st. it'll pop in easy once the synchros line up. rev matching from idle

I would say that the GM will work well for people who are experience cool or cold weather now as it nears winter. The GM stuff works better than the Honda MTF for me in the cold but when it is warmed up, I prefer the Honda MTF since I can feel a bit more resistance rather than slipping right into gear with the GM, for some of the gears.
The only times I've ground was when the tranny was cold, the Honda MTF took longer to warm up than the GM, so I'll stick with the GM fluid this winter.

Heh, and I was getting 4th gear upshift grinds in the last session at Buttonwillow on stock fluid :-)
Argh. I think I'm going to call my friend at Motul and do an in depth discussion of needs/issues vs. lubricant design and see if there isn't something better (which will undoubtedly be ultra expensive - $25/quart anyone?)

I have about 3000 miles of synchromesh usage-street driven. It is not the same as when new. About the same as 6000 mile honda MTF. Possibility that it doesn't have the longevity of Honda MTF. It would be nice to see the difference in the amount of detergents present in a comparison of similar fluids.
Going to try it for one more change. If it doesn't fell better, I'm switching back to Honda MTF until something more appropriate is developed.

Yes anything, to avoid that "total grindage dude." I also get the 3-4th gear upshift grind. Now I get the 1-2nd upshift grind occasionally. That's not supposed to happen on '02's.

I am going to try RL MT90 next summer, but for now, I'm having great performance from GM Synchromesh. I do think that you have to change it pretty often. I went 4500 miles on my last load of GM oil, and it was definitely going down hill. I am planning on changing my tranny fluid every 3K miles from now on (with my engine oil).
