GM Synchromesh SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

Went to the track about a week after putting the stuff in and within the 1st 20 minutes I had a nasty 4th gear upshift grind (equivalent to 40,000+ mile used Honda stuff, j/k, I don't know).
Left the fluid in for a week or so since (lazy), and any signs of smooth butteriness is definitely gone, Mr. GoodWrench is fully spent! Planning to try some RL 75W90NS next, and if that doesn't work right, I'll go back to the Honda stuff and live with the frequent changes

It is the MTL. However, I seem to have a pretty good tranny - I've only had about 5 grinds in 3 years that could be attributed to the vaunted "1-2 grind" and they've usually happened after extended time on the track in the hottest portion of summer.

Hmmmm, interesting...
I have changed mine to synchromesh few monthes ago and haven't had any grinds yet. For comparasion I used to grind maybe two to three times a month basis in the morning. It is still notchy in the morning but no grinding. I hope it's nothing serious. Good luck.

I'm sure it's not a new problem w/ the car (maybe an old problem that's always been there) since the Honda stuff would exhibit the same behavior when it got used up (the Honda stuff lasted considerably longer is all).

I'm still having difficulty shifting into 1st all too often...I normally change every 15k, but I'm approaching 20k and the Honda stuff just isn't cutting it. I'm definitely looking for a replacement fluid.

I have been changing lube two or three times a year. I find the Honda stuff best in the cold and RL MT90 best in the hot. I've tried GM and it is OK as a middle weight but I probably won't use it regularly.
