Default Glove compartment latch

Hey All,

New user, first post if this isnt in the right forum mods/admins please excuse me.

My 01 S2K latch isnt latching onto the bar(not clicking to signal its closed). So If Im on the freeway itll sometimes open up. I think it might be a bum spring and It wont lock in place when I use the key to lock it. Is there anyway to fix this? I never leave my car with the top down so Im not exactly worried but it does get annoying when it just randomly opens up while I am driving.

Mines the same way if I don’t use some elbow grease. Put a little force into it while you’re closing it.

Thats the thing I do, its the metal latch, it doesnt lock in place/hold the bar to keep it shut so itll randomly open. And I cant lock it with the key either.

It could be the bolt that hold the entire locking mechanism to the door if it is loose the piece that hooks to the bar can slip off.
