Glazed pads can often be recovered simply by driving on then, You'll wear the pad down below the glazed part. I glaze pads all the time at the track. Typically a week of normal driving and they're back to good as new.
My civic has rear disks, not so much because they're better than drums but, because I hate working on drum brakes.
