not that i know of but after a few at the track with my stock brakes they were cooked! my rotors were dark blue/black and i could feel the heat from the brakes a few feet away. but no noise from my brakes and that was 6 months ago...

On a more serious note, typical street pads do not make any unusual noise when they fade. You'll prolly smell the friction material first, then you will find that you have to apply more pedal pressure than normal to slow you car down, as well as the brake pedal traveling closer and closer to the floor.

To fix this, let em cool for awhile, and then re-heat the brakes just enough to burn the glaze off and then your good to go.

well non of these things are really touching on what i am experiencing. so i guess i dont have glazed pads. i have had drilled and slotted rotors for awhile now, but it seems that they are/have been making a woooshing noise under braking. did i just never notice this or is this out of the ordinary?

some times the slotted rotors make noise, and even more so if you have aftermarket pads

no aftermarket pads and the slots were installed in the less agressive direction

This whole glazing the brakes thing, this is just a thing that happens when your brakes become overheated right? No long term or permanent effects on your braking system?

that's what i like to hear hearing the woosh means its working just like the tingle for that shampoo
