CJ,

Sorry to hear about your situation. It seems whenever something happens to these engines, it is automatically assumed to be user error. Maybe that is correct most of the times, I don't know, but it stinks when you truly do nothing wrong. Anyway, if it were me, I would take the $5500 - 6000 your insurance is offering, and then supplement the balance ( 1500 ) for a new motor from Honda. I know that royally sucks, but I would prefer the new motor for $1500 out of pocket. Heck a month ago you thought you were out of pocket for the whole thing.

Good Luck

chris

Thanks for all the support guys.

What are some other sources for crated motors and their respective price ranges? Anybody have any good leads / sources?

Alaniztechnologies.com He is building me a motor as we speak! Bigger ,Better, Stronger - look at his engine packages under the S2000 exclusive link on his website - you can get it for about what you would pay for a brand new motor from Honda!

What part of your insurance covered it? Comprehensive because the official Honda stance was water ingestion?

King Motorsports is selling a "rebuilt" motor. Don't know what was wrong with it, but as far as rebuilt motors go, I trust King.

You should find out 2 things to help you..

1) Does the part (motor) supplier give a warranty on the used engine and how long is it?
2) What is covered?
3) Does your insurance company back this warranty longer?

Most insurance companies will warranty a used part for the same time that, in this case Honda, would warranty a new replacement engine.

If you have a lien holder on your title (making car payments) then it is likely that the check will NOT be in your name alone, either a shop would be on the check or your lien holder if you do not select a shop. This may be an issue if you plan on taking the $$ and doing some engine work etc..

Hope this helps...
