Recently bought 2004 S2000.
Want to do all main service stuff.
Local Honda Dealer is recommending their normal Honda MTF for both - is this what you guys would recommend?
I've used Land Rover MTF in my Integra Type R S80 gearbox in my Civic as this is the same as Honda MTF and was available cheaper at the time as Honda did not sell their MTF in smaller than gallon drums (they now sell in 1L bottles).
If you recommend Honda MTF then I guess the Land Rover stuff be ok for the S2000 also?

Honda MTF is fine for the gearbox. The new fluid, released maybe a year ago?, is great stuff.
I don't know about that Land Rover stuff. It will probably eat your carbon syncros. I would stick to Honda.
DO NOT PUT THAT SHIT IN YOUR DIFF. And in the future, apparently you should not listen to your Honda dealer because that is bad info.
Honda does not sell retail any fluid for our diff (unless you want to find a Honda marine shop). LE 1605 is great stuff, and tons of people on here use it, as do I. I wouldn't even know what else to recommend!

I wouldn't use a 75w-90 in the diff. the manufacturer's spec is for SAE90, which i believe is supposed to be stable throughout the operating temperature band.
That being said, LE 1605 is SAE110 equivalent if i remember correctly.

Got out the owners manual last night. It says to use an SAE90 which is GL5 or GL6.
My knowledge of gear oils is minimal. What are the GL5 or GL6 ratings?
And does SAE90 translate to a particular viscosity?
Of those that are using this grade - what brands/types are you using?
Semi-Synthetic/Fully Synthetic?

Most of what you're going to find is GL5.. its just an oil with very high pressure performance needed for lubrication of hypoid gears seeing very high loadings. Basically they pack it full of sulfurized additives so it smells like farts. All gear oils should have the rating printed on the back.
75w90 is fine, but I wouldn't use it in hot conditions (people do). It's recommended not to use LE 1605 is very cold conditions either due to its high viscosity, but I've run it through the winter two years without a problem (Well, LE 607 and 1605).
SAE90 viscosity range is 13.50-23.99 cST at 100* C

Hmm... well I've phoned my two local Motor Factors("auto-parts stores" for the US guys
) and the following is what they have:
Millers Classic Differential Oil
SAE90 - I think it's this one:

Castrol Differential Oil 80/90
I think this one:

Thoughts on either?
