Default gear stick help!

hi,

i bought a momo gear knob and put it on my S2000. recently i just changed it back to the original S2000 gear knob but now it doesn't screw all the way down because of the dents i put in it when putting the momo gear knob on.

My question is: Is there a way to fix the metal stick to make the gear knob go all the way down again? or can I replace that metal stick and will that be expensive and difficult?

Thanks for any info you guys give me.

Joe

You should run a "thread chaser" down the threads on the stick.

hmmm, i dont know why, but I assumed that you dented the shifter with the use of a locknut/set screw in the momo knob.

If this isnt the case, and you have basically cross thread the existing shifter because the momo knob had a different thread pitch, you definately dont want to grind those down - in which case xviper has the solution

Is it the threads or that you left off the nut under the stick knob?

I think he means a tap and die kit. Not sure about the shift rod's thread size. If the kit doesn't have the right one, you can buy just one die extra. Make sure it'll fit the handle in the kit.

I have no idea. What is the difference? The dent made by the screw is pretty deep.

Is it the threads or that you left off the nut under the stick knob?
I'm not too sure about ur question. But i just screwed some screws in for the momo knob and now that I try to put the original knob on, it only goes down half way! I'm just assuming it is because of the dents.

thanks for this. I'll go check it out.
