Default Gauge Lights Flicker Upon Warmup

Hello,

I have been having this issue now for the past couple weeks and can't figure it out. It seems when I turn my car on in the morning, the gauges lights (Battery, Brake, EPS and SRS) randomly flicker. I checked the battery terminals and they are snug. The car starts right up without any problems and drives fine once the lights stop their flickering. I've attached a video and hope an electrical guru can guide me in the right direction.

Almost seems like a bad ignition switch.

Jiggle the key... See if you can get the dash lights to respond.

This can also be related to the alternator sometimes.

Had a similar issue with my 2001 Tiburon.

I tried wiggling the key when it was occurring but the issue continued.

Is there a simple way to check the alternator to see if this is the issue? I've owned this car since 2004 and never had a issue like this...

A glitchy alternator (meaning the rectifier in the alternator) will cause the dash to flicker, but will not cause your warning lights to go on and off.

Any major work done to the car? engine job? Alarm?

Looking at your vid again, its hard to say.

Write down each light that is coming on and post it. They obviously have something in common.

I'm having a low idle problem after engine overhaul. I've noticed my dash lights flicker just enough for me to barely see it. Could my alternator be the cause of my idle issue?

The lights are: battery, brake, EPS, and SRS. The power steering kick out when the lights are on. Sometimes instead of flickering they stay on for 5-10 seconds and then go away. It happens only when the engine is cold.

The other day I left my running lights on while I was at work. This drained the battery down pretty low where it struggled to start. Once it finally started, it had no symptoms what so ever. I'm starting to think it has to be the alternator. Are there any test I can do before ripping it out and wasting time if it isn't the alternator?

Thanks for the responses.
