Default Gas Tank Wont Fill

The last few times I have filled up I have noticed that the pump's auto shut of stops only after a couple gallons. It then keeps shutting off every gallon or so. I have tried different gas stations and it still is doing this. It is getting really annoying cause I never really know when my tank is full when I am pumping. Any ideas of what could be causing an issue like this?

I do have an Ap1 so maybe I am getting something resticting the flow in my filler neck. I will have to take a look at that.

my friends sti did this and there was excess pressure in the tank. his dad knows a lot about cars and stuck a tube in the gas tank and got a vacuum. sucking out the excess air. filed up like a charm.

I think there is a vent line for the tank and if it's kinked or clogged it causes these symptoms.

Have you tried not sticking it in all the way?

Pretty close...Happens when they fill the tank and then continue to try to top it off, it overfills and goes into the evap system (evaporative emmisions) charcoal canister. You need extra room in your gas tank to allow the gasoline to expand. When the pump stops, don't put more in. This will prevent gasoline going down into the closed canister system damaging the filter and causing this problem.

Never had the chance work on an S2000 canister but many Toyota's I worked on had a vent tube that would clog up and also cause the same issue. Check to see if there is a vent tube on the big black box (charcoal canister) under the car by the diff, if I am not mistaken on mine it's right in front of the diff looking at it from the rear, on the drivers side. Check to see if there is any debris/dirt inside of it... Found mud, bugs, webs you name it on the Toyota systems.

My car used to do this too, then I figured out its how you place the handle of the pump into your tank. Try playing with it a little. No homo lol
