My 2005 started doing this and it is about to drive me crazy. I used spray lithium grease which worked for a few days but then the squeak came back. I next used some silicone insulating grease but that didn't help. I think it is coming from where the end of the spring is wrapped around the rod that comes up from the pedal itself. I moved the spring right and left with a screwdriver and it stopped for a about 30 minutes but came back. I am thinking about just removing the whole assembly and trying to fix it and then reinstall it.

Mine squeaked for a few weeks over the summer but it went away on its own.

Let us know how it turns out for you.

I finally fixed it by using needle nosed pliers to the wire arm on the spring that attaches it to the rod that comes up from the pedal. I didn't bend the arm, I just moved it around where the half circle of the spring arm cradles the back of the pedal rod.
