Default gas or oil smell from ac

when i have the air or a/c on, i get a gas or oil smell coming from the vents. if i switch to circulation the smell goes away. when i start driving, there is less of the smell. what is going on???!!! i recently changed out my throttle body to a bigger one. i notice that there was oil inside my throttle body. i decided to plug off the vacuum hose on the intake and install a breather filter on the valve cover.

The problem doesn't seem related to the work you did on your car. Check your cabin filter make sure it doesn't smell like any of those things. Sometimes I spray the filter with cologne as air freshener.

Start your engine, leave it idling, pop the hood, and smell the breather filter. I guarantee you that's the source of the smell; I've done it before and unfortunately learned to live with it.
